Case Studies

Woodland Hills, California

This private software development company provides tools, technology expertise and custom software applications to hundreds of Fortune 1000 customers. To fill the need for flexible business applications, Compuflex created several application and development tool products, including the WebAccel Framework for rapid Web-application development.

The Challenge
Publicize proof of concept for Compuflex’s ground-breaking WebAccel software package, one of the first applications based on Web Services technology

Coracle’s Solution
Using a targeted approach, stimulated advance demand for the production application in the horizontal enterprise and healthcare/hospital markets.
Carefully crafted a targeted editorial pitch for this innovative application, which tracks patient treatment information. Successfully offered tailored versions of the story to two high-quality publications: e-week, reaching 450,000 IT professionals, and Health Data Management, circulated to 42,000 health care leaders. Both published staff-written articles on initial usage of the application in a Southeastern hospital chain. The publicity helped attract the attention of a global, public company that approached Compuflex and purchased the WebAccel product line.

The Challenge
Introduce this European company to the U.S. market, quickly gain visibility to support regional business development efforts

Coracle’s Solution
Arranged and led a preparatory press tour for vertical media with Esmertec’s newly named U.S. vice president as key spokesperson. Timed U.S. market introduction to coincide with CTIA Wireless 2003 tradeshow. Scheduled and participated in analyst, media and application developer briefings during that conference. (The number of meetings held exceeded the initial target by a factor of three, providing increased visibility and coverage.) Followed up by arranging an executive appearance on a live, moderated Web discussion program sponsored by a leading industry publication. Also prepared executives and completed logistics for Esmertec’s effective participation in a Qualcomm press conference.

Wrote, edited and distributed press releases resulting in targeted trade press coverage.

San Ramon, California

A venture-funded company with a ground-breaking technology enabling wireless network operators worldwide to offer Advanced Voice Services, including push to talk

The Challenge
Successfully position the company as a technology innovator introducing premium, instant voice services—a new product category in the wireless industry. Build visibility and momentum for this startup, which competes with entrenched, major infrastructure vendors

Coracle’s Solution
Participated in creating initial messaging and communications strategy for this company’s launch. Researched and wrote a definitive white paper describing system configuration, features and benefits and demonstrating technology superiority over competing VoIP-based systems. This informative paper provided core product documentation for the company and was translated into seven languages for sales purposes. Coracle edited and repurposed this content for multiple uses, including Kodiak’s Web site copy, position papers and press releases.

On short notice, Coracle provided European representation at the company’s first system launch in a multinational wireless network and during the 2004 3GSM Congress in Cannes.

Identified key U.S. industry and investment analysts, reporters for vertical and horizontal media and trade association executives; developed ongoing relationships with each. Arranged and led a full schedule of analyst and media briefings during the CTIA Wireless 2004 and 2005 tradeshows. Provide ongoing regulatory advisory, research and writing services. Editorial coverage of the company has far exceeded expectations.
