Judith S. Purcell, Managing Director Toggle

An award-winning journalist and business communicator, Judith Purcell has a track record of leading successful communications initiatives.

Since she formed Coracle Group in 2002, the agency's seasoned professionals have provided outstanding results in branding, PR and marcom for client companies serving North American and global markets.

Ms. Purcell was the Founding Editor of RCR Wireless News and Wireless Week, where she led a global team of print and online editors. Wireless Week received national awards for investigative reporting and editorial excellence from The American Society of Business Press Editors, Folio, and Reed Business Information.

Ms. Purcell previously owned a California communications firm with clients including the Electric Power Research Institute, the Personal Communications Industry Association and regional healthcare provider groups. Earlier, she conceptualized, launched and edited several business magazines in the telecom, satellite and television fields and served as a reporter for daily newspapers.

Ms. Purcell is a Fellow of the Radio Club of America and a Founder of Executive Women in Wireless. She was one of three individuals who organized the extremely successful Cellular 25 event, which brought 500 luminaries from across the wireless industry to Chicago and celebrated the 25th anniversary of the launch of cellular communications. Ms. Purcell holds a B.S. degree in journalism and design cum laude from the University of Missouri-Columbia.


Richard L. Purcell, Executive Director

Experienced in publishing and public relations, Mr. Purcell joined Coracle Group in 2007. He is responsible for operations, accounting and technology support.

Mr. Purcell served 12 years with Reed Business Information. He was General Manager of Electronic Media for the Telecom Group, which published Wireless Week for wireless executives and CED for broadband professionals.

Mr. Purcell launched and managed websites, email newsletters, Webcasts and digital magazines. In 1996, he launched www.wirelessweek.com, which won an RBI award for Best Online Content and became the industry's number one website in page view and unique visitor statistics. In 1997 he initiated the industry's first headline news to digital devices. Previously, Mr. Purcell served as Editorial and Conference Director of Convergence, the first magazine to track and analyze the Internet's effect on communications.

Previously, Mr. Purcell was Managing Editor of three business magazines and Marketing Director of 10 trade shows. Earlier, he was National Director of Public Relations for a 56-office CPA firm and president of the Colorado Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.

He holds a B.S. degree in psychology from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and has completed graduate work in marketing.


Lisa A. Eppert, Media Relations Manager

In telecommunications and healthcare, Lisa Eppert has excelled in delivering public relations results for 25 years. At Coracle Group, she manages media relations.

Trained as a journalist, Ms. Eppert worked in newsrooms in San Diego, Dublin and Mexico City, experiences that equipped her to work quickly and effectively with the media.

Previously she served five years as Public Relations Manager for AirTouch Cellular in San Diego. At AirTouch (later acquired by Vodafone), Ms. Eppert managed all media, government, community, internal, regulatory and crisis communications. One of her key achievements was a highly successful campaign for the first CDMA launch in Southern California. She also negotiated major sponsorships, created award-winning community events and worked with senior managers on legal and regulatory issues. Ms. Eppert received a “Service Legend” award—the top corporate honor at AirTouch—for leadership and professionalism.

Earlier, she was Director of Communications/Resource Development for the American Lung Association of Orange County; Director of Communications and Development for the American Heart Association—Greater Long Beach Chapter; and served in Public Relations/Marketing for the Institute of Safety and Systems Management at the University of Southern California.

Fluent in Spanish, she holds a B.A. degree magna cum laude in journalism with a minor in Spanish from USC.


Valerie Suriano, Account Executive

An experienced marketing and sales professional, Ms. Suriano joined Coracle Group in 2009. She provides account support including market research, campaign implementation and project coordination.

She served 11 years in sales and marketing positions with Home Box Office, where she worked with cable TV companies to increase subscription sales, trained customer sales representatives and helped coordinate events and PR opportunities in the Rocky Mountain region.

Ms. Suriano also served six years as marketing manager for a heating and air conditioning firm, where she helped increase sales revenue by more than 150 percent. She designed and implemented customer acquisition campaigns including print, radio and Internet tactics. A customer retention campaign that she created and produced resulted in a 300 percent increase in annual membership plans.

Ms. Suriano earned a B.S. degree in Mass Communications from Emerson College in Boston and an M.B.A. from the University of Denver.


Michael Creighton, Creative Director

Mr. Creighton is an accomplished graphic designer in print and electronic media. For Coracle Group clients, he creates corporate identity and marketing materials and designs and builds websites.

Previously, he served with several top advertising agencies, including TBWA/Chiat Day and the T&O Group, where he worked on projects for Auto-By-Tel, TDK Semiconductor, Sony Semiconductor, Wyle Electronics and Linear Tape Open (a venture of IBM, Seagate and Hewlett-Packard).

He is proficient in the following page coding: HTML/DHTML (hand coding), Dreamweaver, JavaScript, PHP, XML, WML, mySQL, ASP and ASP.NET. He is also familiar with graphics/animation programs, including Photoshop, Illustrator, FreeHand, Flash and Director, as well as back-end IT requirements.
Previously he completed numerous graphic design and Web projects for a wide variety of businesses, associations and retailers.

An honors graduate of Pepperdine University, Mr. Creighton holds a B.S. degree in advertising and marketing.
